With Tom in Greve

Ciao everyone, this is Carmen.  We are about three weeks behind on our posts so I am helping Gary by writing this one.  After Cortona, Kae and Terry left and our good friend Tom Walters wanted to go to wineries, so we set out for Greve in Chianti.  Everyone has to have their picture taken with Il Gallo Nero, the Chianti rooster statue.  I am going to use this one because it is such a good picture of Tom, even though it only has the rooster's foot in the frame.

I asked Gary, "Is there still a brain in there?"
The clouds were really putting on a performance for us.

We have been to Greve five or six times, but this was the first time we took a short drive up the hill to the old castello and the village of Montefioralle.

And of course there are flowers to photograph:  hollyhocks (one of Gary's favorites) and hydrangeas (I wish I could grow them this big and lush!)

Another photo subject of surprising variety are centuries-old hitching irons that are still around even though the horses are no longer ridden into town.
